I am Kylie Wines and I compete in all jumping events. I am fairly new to the sport comparing to some kids who have been training since their youth. I started track my freshman year having no idea the events I did even existed. I have been on varisty for 3 years, soon to be 4. For a while I thought I had peaked since I was not improving but this past season was a complete game changer. I unfortunately suffered from an IT Band and quad injury but I shocked myself and my coaches when I beat my personal record by 4 feet in the Triple Jump on my 27th jump of the day at League Finals with a seriously bad limp. Unfortunately I was half an inch away from going to CIF. Throughout this whole past season I have beat many of my old personal records. I did not have a coach for high jump this past season and I beat my personal record by 2 inches. For long I beat my PR by 2 feet. I managed all of this with little coaching and a detrimental and tedious quad and IT band injury. This past season has showed me that I have just started in my track journey and I am extremely confident that if I can PR by 4 feet injured, I can hit some serious marks with more training and hard work. I love this sport deeply and I will put in the work no matter how challenging it may be.
