I played travel volleyball from age 9 through 15. I was on varsity volleyball my freshman year when the athletic director recruited me to go out for track. I was in numerous events but didn't start pole vaulting until my sophomore year. I really fell in love with it. My PR was only 7' that year. I believed I could do much better with the right training. I started going to UP (Ultimate Pole Vault Club) in the fall of my junior year. Coach Livio Centanaro has helped me tremendously! In less than a year, I gained 1'10", PR'ing at 9'1" at the Ultimate pole Vault meet this July of 2023. I know I have more in me and look forward to seeing what will I accomplish during the offseason and my senior year.
I always try to be a person with high moral standards. At my school, seniors attend a retreat called Kairos. Each year 5 juniors are chosen by faculty to attend so they can lead Kairos during their senior year. This year, I was one of the 5 chosen. I think that speaks to my character. I am kind, conscientious, and always give my best in everything I do. I was elected to ASB for my senior year as well as making varsity cheer. I love to be involved and a positive influence on others.
I feel like my GPA doesn't give me the credit I deserve since my school does not give weighted credit for honors coursework with the exception of Honors Chemistry. At most other schools, my GPA would be 3.61.
Athletically and academically there are other people who are stronger. I don't have the highest GPA or the highest PR. What I do have is the drive, determination, and grit to be the best I can be on the field and in the classroom.
