I began running in 4th grade after spending several years playing soccer. While I enjoyed soccer, I realized my true passion lay in speed. My standout skill on the field was being the fastest player, and once I started running, I instantly fell in love with it. The thrill of going fast and competing against others was unlike anything I had experienced before. As a child, I didn’t know where this hobby would take me, but I knew I wanted to pursue it as far as I could.
When I reached high school, I discovered the possibility of running collegiately, and this became my new goal. Competing at a higher level in college is an opportunity I am determined to work toward. Over the past seven years of running, racing, and training, I’ve learned the value of daily effort and perseverance in improving my performance. Every race teaches me something new about myself and how to push my limits. Even in moments of failure or disappointment, I’ve learned to face challenges head-on and grow from them. My coaches and family have played a significant role in shaping me into a focused, goal-driven runner, and I am deeply grateful for their support.
I dedicate myself fully to my training, which I pursue year-round. I’ve come to understand the importance of every workout and how consistent effort builds success. Beyond regular practices, I also prioritize cross-training and recovery. My routine includes swimming three times a week, acupuncture sessions, physical therapy when needed, weekly ice baths, and actively rolling out and stretching to prevent injuries and stay in peak condition.
While running is a big part of my life, academics are my top priority. As an upcoming junior, I maintain a 3.9 unweighted GPA and a 4.45 weighted GPA. I challenge myself with the most rigorous classes my school offers, having already completed five AP courses and one honors course. I’ve consistently been on the honor roll and am a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. Additionally, I am actively involved in my school and community, participating in various volunteer opportunities and serving as the Recycling Club president this year.
My ultimate goal is to attend a college that will push me both academically and athletically. The hours I devote to running and studying are sacrifices I willingly make to prepare for my future, as they shape me into a more resilient and determined individual. I am eager to face the challenges that college will bring and grow through them, both as an athlete and a scholar.
