I am a fourteen-year-old sophomore student-athlete at Helix High School. Upon graduating, I want to study Business and Publishing at an HBCU. My family is a huge influence on my life and accomplishments in that they taught me to be a hard worker and to never give up. That really came into play when I was injured during the preseason of my freshman year. I did everything I could to get back on the track faster though other conflicts out of my control prevented me from running for the season. Even then, my ultimate goal was and is to compete in the 2016 season. In the time that I’ve been a part of my school’s track and field team, I’ve learned the core of teamwork and sportsmanship as well as endurance, leadership, perseverance and optimism. Being a part of a team and leading in any situation--be it recording races, setting up hurdles, or running sets of blocks to the other side of the track--encouraged me to lead in other parts of my life. I babysit my neighbor’s kids, tutor my little sister, and lead in youth programs at my church. Track and Field has become an extremely important part of my life and I hope that you can take me further!
