Personal Statement
Running at a competitive level has been a longtime dream of mine. My school does not place much emphasis on athletics, and there are few girls who consider track/xc their "main sport". I know that if I were to compete on a team where running is a common passion among my teammates, I can truly challenge myself mentally and physically to push myself to higher limits.
I have participated with the Cross country and Track teams for 6 years, however it was only until recently that I realized my potential as a runner. I have been the distance team captain since 10th grade and hold all-school records in the 5k, 1600m, 800m, and 4x400m. I broke a 10 year old record in the 800m at the Tri-County Small Schools Invitational with a time of 2:18.86. Although I have spent the past 3 years training with little challenge, I was able to develop the mental toughness and internal motivation that makes me a positive, determined, and versatile athlete.
I am very ambitious and know that on a competitive team with a dedicated coach, I can push myself and others to succeed.
