Ever since I was five years old, I have wanted to play soccer. Unfortunately no one could take me to practices or games. I still continued to practice playing soccer whether it was in the backyard or on a field by myself. In 2012 my dad signed me up for my first soccer team, I was so thrilled to be playing on a real team. When I played soccer , I forgot about everything else besides the game and it was just the field, ball and me. I played recreational soccer for 2 seasons and then tried out for a competitive team. Currently, I play for Santa Clara Sporting, Santa Clara.
Along with soccer grew a passion for running. In 2012 I participated in the Hershey's track meet and from there in 2015 I joined cross-country and track in my middle school years. I placed first in Santa Clara East County for 800m and was awarded MVP for track and cross country at Rancho Milpitas Middle School. I was also awarded athlete of the year in 2017.
I was invited to join the Phoenix track club in the summer of 2017 and I have improved my running ability. While I was in the club I entered the Pacific Association Junior Olympics qualifiers. I didn't make it to the finals unfortunately, but the experience taught me that I need to train harder as there is always someone faster.
More recently I've started High School. As a freshman I made the varsity team for cross country. My participation in the Phoenix Track Club over the summer and the Coach's assessment of my potential helped. I'm looking forward to my first invitational meet, so I can learn from it. I also plan to continue with soccer in the spring 2018, cross training for track.
I believe that if I can accomplish this much so far I will accomplish bigger and greater things in the future.
