Hello, I am Kyla Seeley. This year is my fourth year running, beginning in 8th grade, and third year as a high school athlete. I am very competitive by nature and have great internal drive, which inspires me to push to be the best that I can be, during meets as well as in practice.
In the classroom, my standards for myself are held just as high. My school has mandatory "small learning communities" for freshmen and sophomores, which provides themed learning. You stay with this group for history, science, English and (for some) an art class. I was in a group called ROCK (or "Revolution Of Core Knowledge") that is visual and performing arts-based with lots of group work and has a reputation for being the most academically challenging. I consistently push myself in the classroom, and have developed an open mind and strong interpersonal/leadership skills from group work. ROCK also has a requirement of at least 70 community service hours by the end of sophomore year.
This year I am a junior and am taking classes that both challenge and interest me. For example, I took my leadership skills which were developed during my time in ROCK to work in my school's Associated Student Body ("ASB"/"leadership") class, helping lead the freshman class, plan dances, rallies, and spirit days, improve the school via student voice around campus and much more.
I am interested in running as a collegiate athlete because running has blossomed into a strong passion of mine, so I will be committed to your team while having fun and enjoying the exceptional experience.
