Personal Statement
For me running gives me the feeling of flight! I discovered running when I was 9 years old and my goal quickly became to run for my high school, my college, and eventually for my country in the Olympics. From winning little awards in the fourth grade, to making it to the Junior Olympics in 8th, and to being named the Most Valuable Female Track and Field Athlete at Cathedral Catholic High School in 2019, I have always had my eye on my goal. At the start of my 9th grade year I was seriously injured in a freak trampoline accident. I was in physical therapy for two years and my doctor told me I would never run again, but I never took my eye off of my goal. My passion and commitment would not allow me me to give up, and I proved my doctor wrong. My determination, dedication, and love for this sport is what differentiates me from other candidates. The injuries, the doubt from others, and the unlikelihood of my success only strengthened my resolve to achieve my goals in my athletics, my school work, my community service, and my relationships. Through continuous volunteering, keeping excellent grades, and maintaining steady relationships I have made sure to give the same passion for running to all aspects of my life. This personal strength is reflected through my commitment to the National Honors Society, The National Honors English society, the All Academic team, and the Options Mentor program. I am happy to share my energy, my commitment, and my drive with all people, all teams, and to all schools that will welcome me. I have my eye on my goal and I am so excited to see where my next steps will lead me.
