I fell in love with running when I started seventh grade, my P.E. teacher would make us run 1-2 mile at the beginning of each week. I liked to see how fast, how far, and how much I could push myself. Cross Country and track have taught me to strive to learn from my mistakes and never give up even if I'm not happy with my performance. I'm going to continue on doing both Cross Country and Track throughout my high school career and I'm excited to find a college where I can continue my running career.
At school, I work extremely hard to earn good grades, never satisfied to be an average student. Upon starting my Freshman year, I applied and was accepted to a program at my high school (AVID) that aims at preparing high school students for college. The program also requires that students participating in the program get involved with the school outside of class to include, raising funds for the school. I actively volunteer as a time/score keeper for local youth recreational basketball league (RPB - Rancho Penasquitos Basketball and Master Sports). I also volunteered as part of the 2017 Footlocker Cross Country Championship National Finals and plan to volunteer again in 2018 if I am not invited to participate in the race itself.
When my busy school and training schedule allows I enjoy participating in local races in San Diego to help raise money for important causes. During the Summer of 2018 I ran and won first place (for women 15-19 years of age) in the 2018 Joggin for Frogmen 5K in San Diego to run in honor of the Naval Special Warfare community and their families.
