My name is Leah Mendibles and I graduate high school in 2023. As I start my senior year at Sanger High School, I am eager and motivated to continue my hard word in academics and sports. I take a lot of pride in being committed to my school academically and to my coaches and teammates. I still maintained my 4.0 GPA. I am very proud of myself for having a great Junior year on the cross country and track and field Team. I thank all my teachers, coaches, parents, and teammates for supporting me and providing great resources for a successful year.
In my Junior year, we were able to have a full cross country and track and field season. In cross country we were CMAC League Champions, CIF Central Section Valley Champions, and placed 9th at the California State Meet. My 5k PR at Woodward Park was 18:42. In my track and field season, the events I ran were the 400m, 800m, 1600m, 4x400m Relay, 4x1600m Relay, and DMR. My PR in the 800m was 2:16 and my PR in the 1600m was 5:10. I was so happy that I was able to improve on my 5K Woodward Park time (which is the course where the State Meet is held). I was very happy for my team and what we accomplished. In track and field, I improved on all my events including the 400m, 800m, 1600m and relays. I qualified for the CIF Central Area and Valley Championship; where I continued to PR in my events. I was also very proud to qualify for the recognized Arcadia Invitational and my 4x1600m relay team broke the Sanger High School Record.
If given the opportunity, I would love to participate in Cross Country and Track and Field in college. I began cross country in elementary school where I ran in the 3rd thru 6th grade. I really enjoyed running during that time but in middle school I played volleyball and swimming. My freshman year in high school, I played volleyball and track and field. My sophomore year was when I decided to focus on cross country and track and field. It was a hard decision to leave volleyball but I felt more successful in running and I really enjoyed it.
Please take some time and review my NCSA profile, videos, school transcripts, twitter page, and strava activity to see my dedication to cross country, track and field, and my academics. I highly recommend you contact my coaches as I am confident they will have good things to say about my work ethic, sportsmanship, and dedication to my sport. If selected by your school, I know I will work hard and be dedicated to your college and team.
Thank you
Leah Mendibles, Sanger High 2023
