Hey! I’m Nika Gividen, and I’m a junior from Edgewood Jr/Sr High in Merritt Island, Florida.
I got into running right before middle school when I ran community 5ks and realized I wasn’t bad at the sport. Running has had a significant impact on my life in the past four years. . Through running I’ve met some of the most important people in my life and learned some of my biggest lessons, and even things like “the brighter the shoes the faster you run.”
The reason I fell in love with running is because I like to challenge myself, to make my loved ones proud, and to run with some of my best friends.
Through the years of running, I've received multiple awards including MVP 3 for years. I’ve hit some really big mental and physical roadblocks. After the many injuries I would frequently get that would put my seasons to a halt, to when I was at my utmost peak and Covid lockdowns threw the season into an end; my motivation for the sport started to deteriorate rapidly. It was only recently that I had an epiphany and realized I would be far more broken if I ever decided to quit my passion. I gained all my motivation back for the sport that I truly love because I realize how much it means to me..
In the future, I want to become part of the fitness industry, and to help athletes like myself become the best version of themselves and continue their passion through the mental and physical challenges of being a student athlete. I’m so excited for the upcoming journey!
