I initially joined the track team in 8th grade as a way to cross training for swimming. I was a competitive year-round swimmer and had been since I was 9. Initially my goal was to add running with the goal to improve my fitness and stamina for swimming. However I quickly fell in love with the sport, and within a year I made the decision to run full time, making it my priority. I'm all in!
Running has brought a sense of excitement, joy and accomplishment that I never really experienced with swimming. I worked hard and found success early in track qualifying for the Florida Middle School State championships in 1500, 4x400 and 4x800, and quickly contributed to the varsity team in my Freshman season. More than anything it has given me a new sense of confidence and drive, teaching me just how deep I can dig in and push my limits. While at the same time, especially on my longer runs, it fills me with a sense of peace and calmness.
When I'm not running you can find me spending a lot of time with my family. We all love to mountain bike so you can usually find us on a trail somewhere. Of course I'm a Florida girl so I still love being around water, paddle boarding, swimming, you name it. I volunteer as a Jr. coach with No Excuses Middle & Elementary running club where my two younger sisters and little brother also run. Then at my church I often serve as a youth leader in the middle or elementary school classes.
My goal is to keep getting better with each season. I qualified for the Middle School state championships right out of the gate, and now I'm shooting for the same in High School. With practice and persistence I know I can get there - with what I learn, and earn, during the next few years I am committing myself to whatever is needed to be a successful athlete at the high school and college level.
