The pain, the sweat, the cramps, and the soreness- running is worth it all. The thrill of toeing the line and having adrenaline race through my body is the most euphoric feeling in this world. I never knew I could love something this much. Why else would I talk, dream, and think about it every day since the summer before sixth grade. I used to spend hours, weekends, and vacations running around soccer fields, but I never loved it. My dedication, motivation, and positive attitude was not enough to make me love something that I knew I did not truly love. When I stopped playing soccer, I wondered, would I ever find something that I truly loved? Looking back, I simply wish I had started running sooner. More time to train, to build memories, to learn new perspectives, and to challenge myself. However, collegiate cross country and track will give me more time- more time to fall in love with the sport and more time to appreciate all that running has to offer.
