I first discovered Cross Country during my sophomore year in 2023. Until then, I had only raced in short distance track competitions. There is something about racing that has always pushed me to improve myself both on and off the track. The discipline required in Track and Field has helped me to excel in the many extracurricular organizations I belong to such as FCCLA,National BETA club, and FFA. When my coach suggested I try out for Cross Country team last year, I was excited at the opportunity to try something new. Transitioning from short distance to long distance running was truly a challenge. However, with time and dedication, I improved my personal record time and now hold my own with some of Bleckley County's top cross country runners. Additionally, the camaraderie I discovered among my teammates has instilled a sense of sportsmanship and fair play that I had not encountered in other athletic competitions. Though I still have room for improvement, I have recently placed in the top ten in my last two races and am determined to continue improving.
