I came home from school when I was a freshman in High School and told my parents I was going to join the track team. My Dad asked what event I would be “running” and I told him I am going to be a pole vaulter. He kind of chuckled and said OK, let’s get signed up. Before I knew it, I was hooked on the sport and never looked back.
Through my hard work and great coaching that I received, I lettered my freshman year and before my sophomore season my PR was over 11’. I knew then that I wanted to pursue jumping in college. I have steadily improved throughout my career and my current PR of 11’-9” will be surpassed this upcoming season.
All of my coaches/trainers will tell you that I am one of the hardest working athletes that they coach, being the first one to show up with a smile on my face and the last one to leave. When the stakes are high, I am at my best. I also strive to help my coaches and teammates at every practice, workout, meet, or event. It is my goal to participate in a college track and field program that will continue to push me to the highest levels possible.
I take this same work ethic and approach in the classroom and my cumulative GPA is 3.97. I am a member of the National Honor Society, and I am active in volunteer programs with NHS. While athletics are important, I realize that academics will be the driving force that determines my future career and the direction of my life.
