Track has changed my entire life. It's changed my worth ethic, mindset, and spirit. I truly love this sport. Although two years ago I never thought I'd be here. I started running track my junior year (before that I had never ran before). Everyone in my family had ran track which was my reason at the time for not wanting to run. I had no discipline or direction. Junior year I decided, I'd try it. I came in running a 13.69 (FAT timing), after 5 months of people telling me at the most I'd probably get to a 13 flat, I was running a 12.69 (FAT timing) . After speed training, extra training, staying after practice, and working myself extra hard. I went from being the 5th fastest on my team to the fastest. That concludes my first year running.
I then transfered to Peachtree ridge and my second year running, i beat my personal record with a 12.3 in the 100 meter dash, I will be running summer track, and then attending Hutchinson Comunity College to get more experience as an athlete and get my times lower, however after two years i will be looking to transfer to a university and finish running track in college there. After competing on a collegic level my goal is to compete on a olympic level. I havent been competing in this sport for a very long time, but its become my passion and what I want to do in life. I love running. Being that ive competed for two years now. I know i have more to grow as a sprinter and Im willing and ready to do that.
I've always considered myself a leader even before i ran track, and I pushed myself and my teammates. I understand what being an athlete means, its not just on the track but all around in your life. Track has humbled me because I know what its like to not have the best times and really start from the bottom and have to work your way to the top. There will be times when you work so hard and see no improvement, but i know for a fact when you don't give up and you keep trying it pays off. I never give up, because I know the sacrifices pay off in the end. I'm really excited for college, and I look forward to running for whatever university that welcomes me after these two years.
