My name is Makana Walton, I am from Honolulu, Hawaii and am currently in my freshman year at Punahou (‘28). My journey in track and field started two years ago in my 7th grade season of school track, where I fell in love with the sport. I joined a club track team in the summer and started chasing my goals, I haven’t stopped since. My long term aspirations in competing at the collegiate level include running in the World Championships, U.S Nationals, Olympic trials and ranking top in the NCAA. Something that makes me a good candidate for your team includes my commitment to long term and off season training. I understand that reaching my goals is a process that will take time, a lot of early mornings, and long nights. I’m willing to do anything I possibly can to achieve my goals. My consistency, genuine passion and ability to apply feedback is something that sets me apart from other recruits. Since the beginning of my journey I've lost races, dealt with setbacks, and failed again and again. My adversity fuels my passion for training. I know reaching my goals means failing my way to success. I see each loss, injury, and failure as a golden opportunity for growth and progress.
