Personal Statement

High School Coaches Letters of Recommendation: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1g-QDQez0-pjY4xDfJe89OeWejnvnUrEk?usp=sharing

When the coach put me on Varsity as Freshman I understood that he saw a greater potential in me than I knew I had and I led our Team to finish 2nd at State.  Running, relationships, learning, and being challenged is what drives me.  Running is hard, but that is how I grow.  My personal best for my Freshman season was 20:01.

In order to stay conditioned and gain strength I have participated in track.  Using different techniques, muscles, and strategy I can improve stamina, endurance and speed in my long run.  Mentally I have grown to expect and push through the physical pain both on and off the course.  Being part of a strong team, helping my teammates win and achieve their best potential is how I mentally and then physically improve my performance.

As a Sophomore our team went to back to State and  took home 1st place.  I was blessed to run with a great team and I again took 1st for our team.  This was the first time Snake River had ever gone back to back to state and the first time we have ever won the State Championship.  My personal best was 19:57.

My third season of running as a Junior has pushed me to new levels where at State for the 3rd time in a row I again took 1st place for our team and I achieved my personal best run at 19:23. I also broke the all time girl's cross country record for Snake River.

My coaches have been excellent but I have had a deep passion to get better faster.  The last 2 years I have attended the BYU Cross-Country Camp.   I quickly realized I have much more capacity with refined training and coaching that I have learned from this camp.  Each year I have come away with an increased desire to be coached at a higher level to refine my skill and bring my times down, I know it is in me.

As a family we read great books together like Wooden, Who Moved My Cheese, The Twelve Pillars and the Scriptures.  Although I am not growing my muscles when I read them, I know it is important to grow my mind.  Living a life on principles helps me to transfer what I know into action that I can put in place on the course.  I feel it is more important to strengthen my mind because when I have a strong mind, my body will follow.

I love my sports and I am hard working and diligent, in school and on the team. I am supportive and compassionate with those around me. I have maintained a 4.0 throughout my high school career and still continue to maintain it. I have been in the top 10 at state every cross country season, and have ranked high in my track events as well.
