Personal Statement

Hello My name is Jazzmin Kernodle and I am a student athlete. It has always been my dream to do a sport at the college level. I have worked hard to be where I am today but there has been bumps in the road, and I have wondered why I have put all this effort into running because it is not always fun. But then I look at the bigger picture, and how I could not be the person I am today or have relationships with the people I do.  There is a little voice in my head telling me to go and push harder even though I so desperately want to give up, so I keep going.  I have been on varsity cross country and track since my freshman year. I have also been to state every season for those sports.  I also play soccer. I have been on varsity soccer since my freshman year as well, and I have played soccer since I was 4 years old.  Last year when I was a freshman, my team and I went to a Nike regional race down in Boise, Idaho. Although I have ran varsity all season and so have all my teammates, we decided to run the JV race. I finished in first place for the JV race at Nike regionals. I am a sophomore this year, and my girls cross country team won districts, and we are heading down to state October, 27! I also play soccer. I have been on varsity soccer since my freshman year as well, and I have played soccer since I was 4 years old.   I have always tried so hard to keep my grades at a 4.0. It can get a little difficult when trying to keep up with sports, sleep and a social life. I have made it work and juggled all of them in perfect balance. I have recently joined student council this year, and I am so thankful I made the decision to do so. I have been a leader all of my life, and it is amazing to help my school behind the scenes. It is amazing to meet new people and help my school and all the students enjoy school more. I think I would make a good candidate for your team because I put so much effort into everything I do, and I love to meet new people. Being an athlete at the college level has always been a dream of mine, and I hope to pursue it when I graduate high school.
