Hi, I’m Emily Schmidt. I am a senior at Huntley High School graduating in 2015. College is right around the corner and so is the next track season. I started track thinking it would be fun to do in 6th grade. I soon realized that it was the best sport on the earth. From middle school, I still continue to be a hurdler and sprinter. As a freshman in high school, I started on junior varsity but soon earned my place as a varsity athlete. I have learned through all my years as a track athlete what hard work and dedication one has to have to get to the position they want. I’ve even learned through setbacks. My junior year I caught pneumonia. I still tried to work out and wanted to get back in the game as soon as possible. I still juggled a full curriculum with honors, an AP course, and around my work schedule. My academic career is another area I strive to do my best. I strive for an A, always. In school, I find myself asking if I should study in a group or by myself. Although I choose the group, I’m usually teaching my friends the topic, in which helps me learn even more. I currently have a weighted GPA of a 3.89, unweighted of 3.62 and my ACT is at a 24. I plan to take it again this fall because I know I can get a better score. My major of interest is accounting with a minor in finance or economics. Besides being smart and athletic, I am respectful, responsible, and can manage time proficiently. I love helping others in the community as well. I am a well-rounded individual that would be a great asset to any team. My goals are another propriety in which I strive for. They are simply to find a great school that will allow me to excel in my academic and athletic career. I am 100% ready for the challenge ahead as well as talking to any coach about their team and school and eventually to be a part of a new family.
