Rachel Wilkins '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Rachel Wilkins and I am a senior at Wood Memorial High School in Oakland City, IN. I am a mid distance runner for my high school track team and have been a state qualifier in my 1600 meter event twice. I started running track my sophomore year of high school so I have only ran for two seasons and have a PR at 5:21. I do not have the experience level that most competitors have. I do not know how to train myself or what is a hard work-out versus a recovery day. I am slowly picking up on these things, but when it comes down to it I get my edge from being competitive. I hate losing and drive myself to be the best I can be everyday whether it is practice or a meet. I'm a hard worker and never back down from a challenge. My first season I started running around a 6:15 and by the end of the season I had progressed to a 5:30. Not only am I a good runner I also have participated and excelled in my other sports such as soccer and basketball being named MVP and All-Conference over my years of playing. Academically I am ranked 5th in my class and participate in multiple extra curricular activities such as Student Council, National Honors Society, Spanish Club, and Peers.
