Hi!
My name is Sophie Wray and I am currently a senior at Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Indiana. I will graduate in 2024 and have high aspirations of competing at the Collegiate level in Cross Country and/or Track and Field. I have a very strong work ethic, love the opportunity to compete, and push myself daily to become better both academically and athletically. I have been the #1 distance runner in both Cross Country (5K), and Track and Field (1600M and 800M) at Plymouth High School since my Freshman season. I just finished my cross country career with a 17th place finish at the State Finals, running an 18:15:6 on the Laverne Gibson Championship course in Terre Haute, Indiana. I finished my career with a 42 second Personal Record, broke my own school record for the 4th time, and made the All State team for 2023. I am looking for a program that will push me to excel athletically and provide me the opportunity to graduate with a degree in Teaching.
As Captain in both Cross Country and Track/Field I am focusing not only on my development and performance, but how I can impact others on the team to be the best that they can be. I truly believe I am a team player and leader, and I want to pull everyone along with me. I fell in love with running in 7th grade and I really found a passion for it. I qualified individually for Regionals as well as Semi-State my Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years in Cross Country and as a Sophomore I qualified for Regional in the 800M run during Track season. My junior year I qualified for Regionals in both the 800M run (2nd place) as well as the 1600M run (2nd place). I also competed in the 3200M run in Sectionals my junior year (4th place) to score additional points for my team. I have made the NLC All-Conference First Team for Cross Country my Freshman, Junior, and Senior year as well as being Honorable Mention my Sophie year in one of the toughest conferences in the State of Indiana. I believe I have shown leadership in many ways both in athletics and academics, and I will continue to focus on both over my last year in High School. I look forward to the opportunity to speak!
