I started running as a freshman at Norwood District High School. I have always had the passion for running but I have realized I would like to run at a high level in post-secondary school. I run for my school team and with a club. I run with Runners Life and the Kawartha Lakes Lightning 2 days a week and with my track club 1 to 2 days a week. I train 3-5 times a week and do strength training at home and at the gym.
As a freshman in high school I decided to compete in the 1500 steeplechase which is an open event from Grades 9-12. I fell in love with the event after the first water jump. In the summer of 2017, I got to represent District F in the U15 1500m steeplechase placing 3rd,which ranked me third in Ontario for the Ontario summer command. As a sophmore in high school I ran my first cross country races. I set new PR in almost every race.
In the summer of 2018 I competed in the OFSAA Track and Field Championships for the open girls 1500m steeplechase. In the prelims I ran a 9 second pb and won my heat. Also, in the summer of 2018 I ran in the Canadian Track and Field Championships in Ottawa. I ran, for the first time, the 3000m steeplechase competing against athletes from all over Canada and also some University students. In this race I came 7th which ranks me 7th in Canada for the U20 3000m steeplechase.
In the 2018 cross country season, I won COSSA and set a course record beating the old record by 75 seconds. I competed at the Ontario cross country championships and placed 2nd in the u20 6km. ranking me 2nd in Ontario for this event. I am earned the honor of making Team Ontario for the Canadian cross country championships.
For the rest of my high school running career I am going to continue running and giving 100 percent. Hoping to one day get the chance to run in a high level in post-secondary
