From a young age all I wanted to do was run. In 6th grade I began to compete and soon realized my joy of running was even more fun competing with other girls. After four years of training for cross country and track, I wake each day looking forward to my run for the day. My love for running carries me through the challenges of school and our current Covid-19 crisis. I hope to compete one day with some of the best runners and maximize my physical and mental abilities. While it is exhilarating to run the country roads near my home in Maine, running with a team is my all time favorite. While running with others I feel a palpable elevating energy which pushes me to run better and farther. I am excited when teammates excel and succeed with their own goals and feel a sense of connection due to our shared hard work we confront with training. There may be other recruits with better times, but I will bring dedication to running that stems from my background of being raised on a small farm. I know how important hard work and dedication is to achieving a goal. Anything is possible with the right mind set, work ethic and skill. I know that running in college will be a small segment of my life overall and academics will be what prepares me for a career in life. However, I plan to make running a part of my routine for years to come.
