Hello, my name is Tamira Bland. I am currently a rising senior at Western School of Technology and Environmental Science. On and off the track I am always willing to learn something new. At first in the fall of 2021, I started off running cross country but noticed the biggest obstacle I faced was getting into the mental state of running for a long time. My love for track started this 2022 outdoor season when I was told that I have a good work ethic for the track, and ever since I’ve been dedicated to working towards my goals for the next indoor season. Many would describe me as having a strong desire to help others, whether that’s cheering on my teammates at meets, helping out for community service hours, or being hardworking, confident, truthful, and caring. Recently, my coach suggested that I should try field events. I ended up trying Shot Put and Long Jump and I am enjoying learning the arts/ techniques of both of these events. Outside of running, I’ve always had a passion for cooking and becoming a Dermatologist since I was a little girl. I am currently enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Western Tech where I am learning all the skills it takes of becoming a professional chef. My goal as a runner, thrower, and jumper is to keep working towards being the best I can be to run, jump, and throw at the collegiate level, and with great coaching and a lot of hard work, I feel I can continue to succeed as a competitive athlete.
