My goal as an aspiring collegiate track athlete is to either push myself to the Division 1 level or work equally as hard as a member of a D3 team to contribute to a team-oriented atmosphere. I believe I possess the athletic tools and personal character to make a positive contribution to a college track and field program.
I’ve participated on multiple athletic teams, in a variety of sports during my life, so it’s in my nature to be part of a team. Of all the sports I’ve played (I’ve pretty much tried them all), track and field have emerged as the ones that interest and challenge me most. I began jumping at the end of my freshman spring season, and I initially surprised myself with how far I could actually jump. Sophomore year I attempted triple jump. My first jump attempt placed 7th on the Century's top 10 list for Governor’s School. I realized then that I could grow with and be successful in this newfound passion. Since then, I’ve been determined to surpass the current Gov’s records and test the limits of my abilities in my events.
I’ve also grown up with the idea that working hard, both in academics and athletics, is not an option but a requirement. I have maintained a 3.75 GPA while participating in varsity athletics for all of my high school career, and performing well in the class and in my events is important to me. Just as important to my personal success in and out of the classroom, witnessing my teammates achieving success is truly empowering. I am a team player who is goal oriented, dedicated, and hardworking, and I believe that these attributes would make me a great track and field candidate for your team. I am determined to continue to participate in T&F in college. I feel like I have so much more I’m capable of accomplishing, and I’m willing to see how far I can truly jump during my college years. I hope you can give me that opportunity.
