My collegiate goals are, in summary, to continue to grow as an person and as an athlete. I have faced adversity in the past with sports, mentally and physically. Before joining the track team, I was a soccer player whose sole goal was to play collegiate soccer. However, my older sister is an amazing runner, and I joined the track team to spend time with her. My first season of track and field (Indoor 2022 I believe) I did not make it through the first couple weeks of the season, due to being sidelined by a stress fracture. I never competed in a single meet that season. After weeks of rest, I returned for Spring season. I was able to compete in at least one meet, before my stress fracture resurfaced, appearing worse than the first. I was placed in a boot for weeks, before slow recovery and PT. Througout this time, I strength trained, and developed a new mindset. I learned discipline and grit. When I began running I did not like it, I often hated it. Being injured changed everything for me. I learned to appreciate running and grew to love it. Since then, I have worked harder and harder toward my running goals, while also continuing to post good grades in school. I am an athlete who has learned how to push my limits and to keep showing up everyday despite obstacles. I will put in the work and chase goals on the track, and in the classroom. Running has benefited my life in many ways, and I would love the opportunity to compete in college.
