The summer before my seventh-grade year, my parents were at a loss. I had been signed up for soccer, dance, softball, gymnastics, and more in the hopes that I would discover a sport that I loved- all to no avail. About a month before school was due to start, my father suggested cross country to me. Intrigued, I decided to start training, and could barely finish one mile. It was the most challenging thing I have ever done, but also strangely enjoyable.
In the five years since, my love for running has grown and shaped who I am as a person. This sport has taught me perseverance and the value of hard work, and has given me some of the best friends I have ever had. I truly love everything about running, and am working to better myself every day. In college, I hope to run for a school that allows me to improve and compete while also participating in academics at a high level. I believe that my hard work and genuine love for the sport have and will continue to set me apart.
