I have been on the varsity teams for all three seasons since freshman year and have been captain of the girl’s cross country team since my junior year. My freshman and sophomore year I was awarded the most improved award for cross country. My junior year I was awarded the Warrior Award given by my coach which is the highest award given on the team. The award represents a runner who is strong, confident, and a leader. My sophomore and junior year I was chosen for the South Coast Conference All-Star Team.
Through running I have learned that I am more competitive than I thought and that I enjoy challenging myself to do well in every aspect of my life. I have also learned to be positive and to set goals for myself. Last season, my cross country goals were to make my school’s record board for our home course, to be second in our conference, and to qualify for the All State Meet. I was able to achieve all three with hard work and dedication. From learning how to set goals I started to apply them to my academics. During my final year of high school, I hope to raise my GPA, excel in my classes, and graduate with a great education. In college I hope to go into the Health Science field because I really enjoy learning about it. I am looking for a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically.
