Abigail Pohl '13 Recruiting Profile

When I started running freshman year, I had no idea of the effect it would have on my life. I grew up loving team sports like soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, but the dynamic that I associate with these teams  is completely different than the camaraderie and trust that exist on my cross country and track teams. Although races are run individually, I always know that I am running for my team. I want to do my best so that my team can be as successful as possible, and I know that giving up means letting my team down. Over time, I have learned to never give up even when slowing down seems like the most comfortable option. I have also learned to put my team before myself because team success requires hard work and dedication from every single member, and is much more satisfying than individual success. My work ethic has been one of my greatest assets as an athlete. I am the last to leave the weight room after practice and the first to get to the track. I constantly seek improvement and will not stop until I reach my goals. 
My hard work has led me to victory in the Division 4 Championships in 5:08.3 and a 3rd place finish in the mile at the 2011 All State Meet. My goal is to break 5 by the end of junior year and to continue running in college.  I am open to different types of schools, but I take academics very seriously. My dream school is strong both academically and athletically.
