I am ambitious and hardworking, competitive yet compassionate. My name is Keira Eadie and my goal is to become a speech language pathologist so I can help individuals who have suffered from strokes, brain injuries, or other developmental difficulties communicate better.
My inspiration behind this chosen career path is my cousin. She was born with a very rare genetic disorder which among many other things, caused her to be born deaf. Learning ASL to communicate with her has helped be realize that I can help others like her too. Because of my career choice, I am dedicated to challenging myself by taking IB and AP classes and working hard to get good grades. I know that the choices I make with my academics now, will help me in my college career.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I work a part time job at Walgreens and I volunteer at Adopt a Pet, where I am taking their special training so I can work with the animals that have extra needs. This experience has taught me valuable lessons in empathy, patience and compassion, which I believe are important life lessons, on and off the track.
Athletically, my sophomore year was my first year in track, and I made varsity despite not being able to participate in sports in my previous school years. My personal record last year was 1:11.67, and I have been running all summer to improve my skills and beat my record this year. My short term goal is to run a 400 in 58 seconds by the end of my senior year. My long term athletic goal is to run at a highly competitive level college while pursuing my career goals.
I am a hardworking and competitive individual who strives to be better in all aspects of my life. However, I always make time to help a teammate and support them in achieving their goals too. I believe that my ambition, dedication and passion makes me a strong candidate for your team. I am committed to improving my skills, making meaningful contributions to the team, and ultimately achieving my goal of becoming a speech language pathologist.
