I work hard at the things I choose to do. Evidence for this is my grade point average and my induction into the National honor society. I also love to work out, and train daily by weight lifting, plyometrics and with sprint workouts. I also play other varsity sports that have included volleyball, basketball and wrestling. I have also competed in powerlifting where I won the 132 lb. UP State Powerlifting Meet championship.
Pole vaulting is one of my passions and work daily to improve. I live in a very rural area and can only vault a few months months per year due to long winters. However, while I may not access to pole vault clubs with experienced coaches, or year round facilities; I don't let that stop me. I use gymnastic rings, highbars and sliding boxes to improve. Goals are to break the all-class record (12') for our Upper Peninsula State Finals as a senior and win the 100m dash and long jump.
My strengths are my character, work ethic and my physical strength and speed. My weakness is a relative lack of vaulting experience due to our rural and northern location. I am looking for; 1) a college with a Exercise Science/Kinesiology/Pre-Physical Therapy program where I can prepare for a career in sports training and rehabilitation, 2) a close-knit team to be a part of, and 3) a track program that has a pole vault coach who can further develop my physical abilities and vaulting technique, so that I could eventually become a complete vaulter.
