I’ve been running for over 8 years, and my journey in athletics has been shaped by a combination of passion, family, and a love for pushing boundaries. My mom, who was my elementary school coach, introduced me to the sport and instilled in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and teamwork. From those early days, running became more than just a sport to me—it became a way of testing my limits and striving for excellence.
As I progressed through high school, my commitment to cross-country and track deepened, and I expanded my athletic focus by also playing basketball. In cross-country, I’ve had the privilege of training and competing alongside a dedicated group of girls who have become not just teammates, but close friends. From our freshman year, when we placed 12th, to our sophomore year when we improved to 10th, and now as juniors, when we placed 8th at the state finals, our team has made incredible strides. We train together, pushing each other to be better every day, and our shared dedication to the sport has fueled our success. This bond has not only made us a stronger team but has also motivated me to be the best version of myself.
Outside of athletics, my love for math and science has always been a driving force in my academic life. These subjects fascinate me, and I’m passionate about applying the logic, problem-solving skills, and analytical thinking they require. I am excited to study biomedical sciences and medicine at the collegiate level. I believe my experiences as an athlete—particularly in cross-country, where the mental and physical challenges mirror those of scientific inquiry—have strengthened my desire to pursue a career in healthcare. The focus, discipline, and teamwork I’ve developed through my sports have given me the skills and mindset I need to succeed in both the classroom and in the field of medicine.
As a Division 1 runner at TC West, I continue to balance my athletic and academic pursuits, always striving to be better, both as a runner and as a student. The lessons I’ve learned from my cross-country teammates, my mom’s guidance, and my love for math and science have shaped me into the person I am today, and I’m excited to see where my passion for athletics and my dedication to math and science will take me in the future.
