Running has always been a huge part of my life, even before I was born. I have been watching my dad race in the Chicago marathon as well as many others since before I could remember. If my dad and I weren't running, we were watching other races on TV.
I first joined track in middle school, although I had been running for fun long before then. In 7th grade, I took on the challenge to take down our CYC 400m dash record and get my name on the school banner, and that is just what I did. I won first at the CYC finals with an unofficial time of 59.81 that still stands today. Unfortunately, my 8th-grade year was cut short due to the pandemic. Going into high school, I have been on the varsity team for both cross country and track since my freshman year. During freshman year I went to state with my team and placed 4th in the 4x400 and won first place in the 4x800 in Class 4. By the end of my sophomore year, my relay team placed third in the 4x400, won the 4x800 again (2:22 split), and placed sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 58.91. This 2023 cross country season I also qualified for state with a time of 20:17. As for this 2023 outdoor track season I plan on dramatically reducing my times and running the times I know that I am capable of. As for the 2023 outdoor season, I have had a PR in the 400 of 56.05 and a 2:18.79 in the 800.
What sets me apart from other recruits is the experiences I have had with my family, coaches, and teammates to find who I am as an athlete. I have learned so much from my teammates, who truly taught me the value of hard work and dedication, and how to be an amazing teammate. My biggest aspiration is to get into a college where I can surround myself with amazing teammates, coaches, and teachers to be able to push myself to my limits. I am dedicated to graduating college knowing I have given my absolute all academically and athletically.
I know I am qualified to be your next student-athlete because of my dedication, drive, and love for the sport. To constantly want to improve myself as a student, athlete, and teammate.
