From a young age sports have been a part of my life. My oldest brother played college football at Montana Tech. For me, I'm not yet ready to give up sports after leaving highschool. While I dream of getting to play college sports, I am also ready to focus and get my degree. Forestry to me is a way to continue to be out in the woods, which is where I grew up. Hunting, fishing and hiking have always been a part of my life.
On the track and field team, I was always in a leadership role. Since my freshman year I have been on the varsity team. I've been to state every year, but never earning a medal. Last year was my closest ever to placing at state, but again I fell just short. In Hamilton we have no hurdle coach, and a dirt track. These challenges have led me to becoming resourceful on how I learn proper techniques. As an upperclassmen now, I am not only a captain, but a coach to those coming up behind me. While track is an individual sport, it has become very team oriented for me, as I hope even those in the same event as me success.
