Being in gymnastics since I was 3 years old and competitive for the last eight years, I decided to take a break and focus on high school and academics. After a short time, I found I missed the workouts and competitions. I was fortunate enough to find another sport that was equally rewarding. Track & Field, in particular the pole vault event, has become my passion!
Since picking up a pole for the first time on February 19th, 2019, I have surpassed my personal goal to break the freshman school record by winning the NIAA 4A Southern-Desert Regionals, being the runner-up at the NIAA 4A Nevada State Championships, breaking the overall school record with a PR of 11’3”, and being named as Honorable Mention to the Nevada All-State Team. I then competed in the USATF Hershey National Junior Olympics and finished 7th in the nation. Due to COVID, I was unable to compete my sophomore year, but have continued to work in the off-season as I understand there is still a lot of work ahead of me both academically and athletically. Gymnastics taught me the value of work ethics, personal responsibility, perseverance, commitment and teamwork. I believe these qualities have allowed me to excel in this new sport and school. I am excited for the next 2 years of high school and the opportunities ahead!
