As an ex-gymnast of 9 years and a current pole-vaulter of almost 2 by the end of my junior year season, all I’ve ever wanted to do was fly. After picking up a pole for the first time the summer before my sophomore year purely out of curiosity, I fell in love with the sport fast, and started vaulting full-time that fall. Since ending my sophomore year season with a PR of 7’6, disappointingly missing the regional-qualifying mark of 8’, I went to work, and am coming up on Regionals this year with a PR of 9’3.
After a multitude of injuries and set-backs in my many years of gymnastics, I came into pole-vaulting determined and ready to push through anything, both physical and mental, in order to become the best vaulter I could be: to constantly chase that desire to be better, as not only an athlete, but as a student and a person, and to truly soar.
Pole-vaulting has been one of the best things to ever come into my life, and my dream is to attend a university that will allow me to chase my dreams both in academics, as a curious student hoping to pursue biological research, and athletics, as a devoted pole-vaulter who just wants to keep flying!
