Personal Statement

Hello all! My name is Brynna Anderson and I am currently a junior at Alvirne High School in Hudson, New Hampshire. I believe that I would be a significant asset to a college team because I am determined to continually work to improve my abilities and to support my teammates in their goals. I especially love being on a cross-country team because I feel like I am a part of a family, and I will carry that same mindset beyond my high school running career. I have participated in Outdoor Track since 7th grade and Cross-Country since 8th grade. In outdoor track, I am a mid-distance and distance runner. My main events are the 1600m and the 800m. I am passionate about running because I love pushing myself to my limit and seeing myself progress! Ever since I was young, running laps around my elementary school field and racing my older cousins, running has been a central part of my life. My dream is to run track and cross-country in college, and to continue running for the rest of my life. I also want to be academically challenged so that I will eventually work in a career that creates a positive impact in the world.

Some key parts of my life that I feel have influenced who I am are: my love for music (I play the violin and piano); my faith in God (I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints); being the oldest in a family of 5 kids (which has taught how to be patient, responsible, and compassionate); and learning how to be dedicated to my education by taking Honors and AP classes throughout high school.  When I was 13, my family moved across the country and I had to leave behind my family and friends. Even though this was one of the hardest experiences of my life, my character grew and I can say that I am more confident and strong today because of it. I can now see many parallels in this experience and what I have learned through running--one of them being that I can do hard things with willpower and faith in myself, and that being challenged is good because it makes me stronger!

I would love to be a part of your team and I am excited to see the progress we will make together! Thank you for your time!
