I have played competitive sports my entire life. I started soccer at the age of 5, and transitioned into travel soccer by age 8. My speed and stamina have made me a successful player, leading to the chance to start playing for my high school team while I was still in 8th grade. It was during my freshman year of high school that I discovered track and field, and I was able to take my athletic skills and use them on the track. I have run varsity track every year since, in addition to continuing to be part of the varsity soccer team. This year, I joined indoor track, where I really found my niche. I am constantly working to improve my skills whether it be on the track, the soccer field, or in the classroom. I have worked hard to balance schoolwork and sports, achieving high honor roll every semester, while continuing to be a well rounded athlete. My ability to manage a challenging schedule can also be seen in my efforts to maintain many extra curricular activities, even outside of sports. I feel like this will help me in college, because I have learned how to budget my time between school, sports and community involvement. I think this is really important because my goal is to be a well rounded person who gives back to my community.
