Personal Statement
Hard work and dedication are, although generic, the guidelines that I live by. I am a strong believer that whatever I put out into the world will definitely come back to me in greater forms. Therefore, with everything that I do, I put my all into it. From work in the classroom to work at the oval office (the track) my dedication and commitment allows me to focus on why I began running as well as my goals and aspirations.
Through running track and field, I’ve developed into a strong minded independent young woman. In my opinion, my emotional strength has superseded my peers’ which has helped me gain access to many opportunities and become who I am today. In terms of independence, track and field, being an individual sport, has allowed me to become more aware of who I am and to weed out the life necessities from the wants. With this skill, I’ve become a smarter decision maker and have learned to manage my time as wisely as possible.
These skills have also greatly impacted my school life. As you can see on my profile, I’ve achieved a 1220 SAT score and maintained a 3.7 GPA all throughout high school. For someone that puts academics first, managing my time between school, midweek track meets, and practice is something that requires self discipline and independence. And luckily, track and field has provided me with that.
As you may have concluded, I am a hardworking student-athlete who loves running track. As I move on to the next stage of my life I’m looking forward to sharing my skills, work ethic, and various capabilities with my future collegiate team.
