I'd like to find a college where I can develop as a student, as an athlete, and as a person. I have always put my heart into what I do in school and sports because they both really make me happy. I would like college to be a place where this can continue. I believe that I manage my academics and athletics better than most. This fall I have maintained a 4.5 GPA while playing club soccer and making the All-State Team in cross country as a freshman. I had many weekends when I was in one state for an XC invitational on Saturday and then another state for soccer on Sunday (my parents are looking forward to my 16th birthday:)
Since moving to the US from Scotland I have played soccer. During 7th Grade, I decided to try something different and run cross country. My family are runners but, to be honest, it was not something I ever thought much of doing. Surprisingly, I won my first meet and most others during middle school. I began to really enjoy training with a team and racing as a team. I am very proud of how much work I put into training the summer before my freshman year, and it has become obvious that the smarter and harder I train, the faster I can run.
I have close ties with my teammates, and I look forward to this continuing throughout high school and into college. I am also very good at managing my time and finding a good balance with school, sports, as well as friends and family. My parents are in academics and education, so I learned quickly how important it is to be an independent learner and to communicate well with my teachers and coaches. I contribute to my school both academically and athletically, and I believe this will continue on your college campus.
