Personal Statement
Hi my name is Julie Tonon and I would like to introduce myself, I'm 16 years old and a Junior at Green Hope High School in Cary NC. I've been involved in different activities from a young age. I started dance at the age of 3 until I was 15. For the longest time dance was a huge part my life. I danced 5 five days a week and was involved many performances. In the summers I was also involved in swim team where I competed against other neighborhood teams. Swimming helped me develop the skill of competition while allowing me to be part of a team. I basically spent my summers swimming and the rest of the year dancing. As you can see I was already predisposition to become some type of athlete. Furthermore I can also add that my mother is a runner and I would ride the bike for 15 miles with her as she trained for marathons. All of these past events took me to where I am today.
Where am I today? The greatest feeling in the world is that rush that you get from running. While at the same time knowing how far I can push my body and mind. Today running is a huge part of my life, as I have learned a lot and discovered myself from my running experiences. I love being part of a team and want to continue my running career in college. As a new runner I believe that being part of a college program will allow me to chase down new goals, challenge myself and take me to the next level. As a young runner my biggest frustration is to not be able to reach those goals quickly enough but with time I've learned that patience is key. Therefore I believe that most of those goals will become obtainable in college. I'm eager to see how much more I can achieve in college both as an individual runner as well as a member of a team.
