As a parent, I have watched Zora use track as a way to become confident, powerful, and strong. In addition to throwing shot and discus in high school track, she has also participated in USA Track & Field where she throws hammer toss and javelin. Unfortunately, do to Covid-19 Zora missed the opportunity to have distances recorded her junior year, therefore the distances recorded were from her sophomore year. While competing on a varsity and club level she has maintained three jobs and an internship with the NC Department of Veteran Affairs. While pursuing a high school diploma and duel enrolling in college classes, she also provides tutoring and babysitting part time for a family with two boys. Zora's GPA has suffered a bit due to average performance early during her early years. However, while an upperclassman she pursued AP classes and honor classes. Zora is currently on track to receive a 4.25 for this year due to her heavy class load and college classes. Additionally, she works for a hair loss center where she does clerical work and insurance verification. All her employers and the director of veteran affairs would be happy to speak to her ethics and work determination. Zora continues to grow as an athlete and has worked hard to increase her distance and add new throwing implements. Zora has been able to manage school, sports, work, and volunteering flawlessly. She would make a wonderful addition to any school not only as an athlete but as a member of the community.
