secora jones '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello, I’m Secora and welcome to my profile! I’m currently a senior at Early College High School (Partnered with McKinley Senior High School), located in Canton, Ohio. I started my throwing journey in 7th grade and unfortunately, I didn’t get to compete till 9th grade due to Covid. As a freshman, I was on the McKinley Track & Fields Varsity team, ultimately becoming a captain of the throwers my sophomore and junior year. 

Every team that I’ve been a part of always enjoys my positivity and encouraging attitude. One thing any of my coaches would frequently say is that I’m relentless in my goals and easily coachable. Furthermore, I listen and apply the corrections relatively fast. If I don’t understand a verbal response, we’ll review a video and make corrections from there. 

During my freshman year, I got top 8 at a plethora of invitationals. At regular meets, I would frequently place within the top 3. Throughout this experience I learned that not every meet will be perfect and you have to keep going to get where you want to go. Keeping this in mind, my junior year I got 3rd in county with a throw of 111 '2. Likewise, I will continue to do whatever it takes to accomplish my goals.

Fortunately, the field isn’t the only place I use my attributes or mindset. Throughout my high school career, I’ve never had a grade below a B. Additionally, I’ve done this doing an abundance of extracurriculars and taking AP and college classes. My first two years of high school, I competed in three sports: Volleyball, Gymnastics, and Track & Field.  I also worked and had other outside activities during these years making time management an essential factor of my day.   In addition to the previous mentioned  accomplishments,  I’m also relentless, coachable and very personable.

Throughout my academic career, I have continuously built upon my previous years success and will continue to do so. It would be advantageous to keep an eye on me, as the best is yet to come. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
