Maryn Erdman '27 Recruiting Profile

Hello, I’m Maryn. I’m currently a Sophomore running out of the little town of Smithville, Ohio, in between Columbus and Cleveland. 

I have 5 younger siblings, Josiah, Owen, Olivia, Penny, and Andrew, and two amazing parents. 

Throughout my High School Career, I’ve learned important skills and values, like trust, commitment, communication, strength(mental and physical), and many other important attributes. 

In my short high school career so far, my team and I have had great success at multiple levels. From bringing home our first League title in almost 10 years, to bringing home our schools first ever state team title in any sport, it was a fun and eventful freshman season. As a team we won the 4x800m relay at the state meet, a close meet packed with amazing athletes and girls. We also placed 3rd at state in the 4x400m relay, gaining all-Ohio status. As an individual, I ran the 800m, had an undefeated regular season, then won the regional final and eventually state, running a 2:13.17. I also helped the 4x200 to regional berth. 

As far as Cross Country and indoor, so far into my Sophomore year, my current XC PR is 18:59.00 gaining me all-Ohio this last year. In indoor I mostly focus on ramping up to outdoor, but I usually just run the 1600 and the 800, starting off my sophomore season this year with a 2:24 in the 800, and ran the 1600 at the indoor state meet in 2024, running 5:15.3(current indoor and outdoor PR).

In my free time when not running, I enjoy reading, writing, art, knitting, chess, cooking & baking. Throughout High School so far, I’ve been an active member of my Church, as well as participating in a Bible study, art class, and Power of the Pen in Middle School.
