Ava de la Cruz-Wilson '24 Recruiting Profile

Missing almost 2 seasons of Track and Softball due to Covid restrictions... My journey is just getting started...and I know this because I keep making gains in the weight room and in my throws. I am looking for a school/Coaches to further my athletic development.

During high school I competed in Softball and Track and Field. In 2023 I played U17 Club/Travel ball as 1B/RF/Pitcher. My best Tournament was at the 2023 Fastpitch Showdowns in Columbus where i went (5/10,4 Rbi,2k,1hbp) I also did the NCAA Combine at the showdowns where i garnered some interest from NCAA schools. I have enough power to hit the ball 210ft+. I have a decent fastball that has was clocked at 55mph (2023 season),  Spin Rate, is one of my key strengths. It's utilized when i throw a drop ball and change up. I can also throw a funky screwball! 

Due to a lack of opportunity i had to pivot back to Track&Field in my Senior Year (In Canada we graduate a year ahead (2006) of the US high schools) This past year I have focused on Strength and Conditioning. My Coach and I have been working on on Olympic and Compound lifts. When not in the Gym i am at the Track throwing! My primary Focus has been Discus. I also train for Javelin and Shot Put regularly. When i compete, I typically enter 3 events.

My goal is to commit to a US school that can complement my Athletic/Academic dreams, while having a team family atmosphere is a must. I have tried to give a school as much ammunition as possible to offer me a scholarship whether it be Academic , Athletic or both! Ready to Work and Represent.

In Closing my family has been fully committed to my Athletic and Academic endeavours. My Mom is a Director a Marketing at a Non-Profit organization. My Dad is Multisport High Performance Coach with NCCP Training that focused on Softball/T&F Throws and Strength and Conditioning. My Dad was also my schools throws coach in Junior/Middle/HS. He has developed athletes/teams that have competed at a City and Provincial Championship level, which I was also been a part of.
