In 6th I won the 8th grade state basketball championship and thought to myself "what could ever feel better than this?". Later that year I was told I would be a great fit for throwing events on my middle school track team, and within 3 years breaking three shot put and one discus school record became the most significant and rewarding accomplishment I could've ever imagined. In that moment, I knew I wanted to continue throwing my whole life.
What strengthened me most as an athlete and a person was tearing my ACL/meniscus my 6th grade summer in a basketball game, leading to a long recovery over 8 months of physical therapy. I missed that soccer and basketball season, making me determined to be ready and strong enough for that upcoming track season. I ended that season taking 1st place at districts. My injury taught me a lot about myself and what I am capable of overcoming.
My freshman year I didn't have a throwing coach, which left me and 3 other girls coaching each other and as difficult as it was, we all made it to varsity districts. I have faced challenges many times both athletically and academically as well as in life. I look forward to the upcoming opportunities I have to overcome to challenges I have ahead.
Although I'm not sure what I want to major in yet, I know I want to further my education and athletic career at the college that best suits me and my goals.
