Personal Statement
Ever since I was a little, I have wanted to play sports at the collegiate level. As a young athlete, I struggled with tendonitis which affected my competitive running. As a result, in sixth grade I took a shot at high jump. As soon as I started competing I knew that high jump is the sport I wanted to pursue. I have now been jumping for 4+ years and do not love it any less than I did when I first started. When I look back at my early years in track, I realize that injuries make you stronger, and in my case they led me to the thing I love most.
Recently, I competed at the New Balance National meet in New York. I really enjoyed the experience and the competitive environment and hope to compete in more meets just like that.
Right now, I live a busy but balanced life between spending time with friends and family, school work, practicing, community service, working with my church, and coaching young athletes in my free time, all while maintaining a 3.6+ GPA.
The line of work, and major that I am most interested in is sports medicine and physical therapy. I want to be able to help young athletes through their struggles just as my Physical Therapist did for me.
Playing the sport I love throughout my college career is very important to me which is why I hope to find the perfect school and to connect with coaches.
