I am currently a sophomore at Penncrest High School. I have always loved running but began as a competitive soccer player. I play soccer for Rose Tree Soccer Club and play at the Varsity level for my school. When the time came around for the indoor track season, I joined with no hesitation after loving it in seventh and eighth grade. I started out running sprints like the 200m and found decent success, but it wasn't until halfway through the outdoor season that I found success with hurdles. I knew it would be hard to compete with the other girls with my little experience. With determination and hard work, I practiced every day and in my last meet, I placed seventh in the league, just missing a medal. My sophomore year has been much more successful, with a personal record of 17.25 in the 100HH and a 50.44 in the 300IH. By showing improvement such as that in just a little less than a year, I will continue to cut down on my hurdle times throughout my high school career.
In terms of academics, I always prioritize school. I have always been a straight-A and B student and I have earned Honor Roll awards each marking period. I take AP Psychology, AP Calculus AB, AP Language and Composition, Accelerated Spanish IV, Accelerated US History, Accelerated Chemistry, and Accelerated Anatomy and Physiology. In my freshman year, I have been named Honorable Mention in the district-wide World Language Contest, where I was recognized at the end of the year. I am a Class Council Representative, Global Scholars officer(treasurer), and a member of the Environmental Impact Club, Worldwide Pride Club, Student Equity Club, and the World Language Honor Society.
Overall, I plan to pursue track and field through high school and am looking for opportunities to even continue the sport into my college career!
