My name is Tierney McCarroll and I am currently a junior at Pocono Mountain East High School. Ever since I could walk, I wanted to be playing sports. I always wanted more of a competitive edge to the sport I was in. The first sport that clicked for me was competitive gymnastics. I did recreational gymnastic since I was 6 years old, but then when I was 9 years old, I moved gyms and began competing. I would practice four days a week for three and a half hours per day. I climbed up the levels quickly, and always placed well in competitions and made it to states every year. When I finished level 4, I decided I wanted to try something new. I moved on to horse back riding where I trained my pony and competed most summers. I practically lived at the barn always wanting to perfect our skills.
When I reached high school, I played field hockey, swimming and track and field while continuing to keep my grades high. I also participated in our schools committee that was focused on student involvement. I began throwing javelin freshman year. Ever since then, my motivation to improve at this sport has remained the same. I am constantly looking for new ways to get better. The love I have developed for sports and competition plays in to my desire to continue on with this sport in college. I strive to be a better version of myself everyday whether it is on or off the runway.
As a student, my academics is one of the most important things to me . I have taken all honors and AP classes throughout my high school academic career. Every marking period I make Distinguished Honor Roll, and I have been inducted into National Spanish Honors Society and National Honors Society. My goals for the rest of high school is to continue my high academics and to keep pushing myself to be better in every aspect of life.
